The FASHION SCHOLARSHIP FUND
(FSF ) is a national non-profit asso-ciation consisting of influential members of the fashion community, dedicated to promoting education of the fashion arts and business by granting scholarships to talented students and facilitating intern-ships, mentorships, and career programs.
FSF’s goal is to advance the fashion industry by encouraging gifted and enterprising young people to pursue careers in design, merchandising, retailing and business so the industry will continue to attract dedicated, capable, and creative individuals.
FSF regards its scholarship grants as a very worthwhile investment in the future of the fashion industry and, since its inception in 1971,has awarded over $6 million in scholarships to more than 700 students nationwide. FSF is always looking for ways to increase its grant program and last year began a 5-year partner-ship with the Geoffrey Beene Foundation, which includes
a $2 million commitment to establish the Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship. Now, in addition to the eighty $5,000 scholarships FSF awards annually, an additional 4 outstanding Geoffrey Beene Scholars will receive $25,000 scholarships to pursue their edu-cation and career goals.
As further support to its scholars, FSF facilitates internships with prestigious fashion companies and provides career mentoring by prominent senior executives who serve on the FSF Board. Participating companies include Calvin Klein, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Fendi, Liz Claiborne, Chloe, Nordstrom, Coach, Macy’s, Perry Ellis, Bloomingdales, Levi Strauss & Co., Target, Kenneth Cole, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger to name a few.
In addition to generous annual contributions from Benefactors and Sponsors, FSF hosts the Geoffrey Beene Scholarship Dinner annually as its principal fundraiser, with 100%
of net proceeds going directly to FSF
programs. This is thanks to the generosity of the Board of Governors, who volunteer their time to ensure that all monies raised go where they’re needed most: to the students.
The Fashion Scholarship Fund is proud of its work and wholly commit-ted to its mission of recruiting, nur-turing and cultivating the best students from its member schools so they become the next generation of leaders in the fashion industry.
